Interview seized from 3CR
MELBOURNE -- Mid-April Australia Federal Police officers arrived at community broadcaster 3CR with a warrent to seize a broadcasted interview with Rob Stary, lawyer for terrorist suspect "Jihad Jack" Thomas. Station Manager Tim Tolhurst said the raid was an attempt to stop broadcasting of issues that might call into question the government.
"It is not about protecting against terrorism, it is about stopping proper scrutiny of government," he said. "We are becoming a police state."
"From our point of view there is a real need for independent media that is truly independent."
The Media, Entertainment and Arts Alliance branded the raid a blatant act of media intimidation.
